Walpurgis & HSB
When the Harz Mountains’ legendary world awakens at the end of April, our holiday apartment in Wernigerode is ideally located for your adventure. The absolute highlight: a ride on the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway directly to the grand Walpurgis Night celebrations in Schierke. As the historic steam locomotive pulls you through the forests, you’ll get into the spirit of the colorful festivities at the foot of the Brocken mountain. After dancing into May, the train (or shuttle) will conveniently bring you back to your holiday accommodation. An unforgettable experience for families and couples!
Chocolate festival “chocolART”
When the scent of cocoa wafts through the streets to the Harzträume Apartment, the Wernigerode Chocolate Festival transforms this colorful town in the Harz Mountains into a paradise for gourmets. International chocolatiers present handcrafted pralines and creative specialties at “chocolART.” Stroll among the half-timbered houses in the market square, sample exquisite creations, and watch the professionals at work. A delightful experience for couples and families!
Christmas in Wernigerode
What would the Christmas season be without events filled with sparkle, a contemplative atmosphere, and mulled wine? The Wernigerode Christmas market—held right against the backdrop of the Old Town, usually from the first Sunday of Advent until December 22nd—promises exactly that. The glittering lights at St. Sylvestri Church and on Nicolaiplatz, in particular, make children’s eyes light up. Following Christmas, the annual winter market takes over and runs until January 6th. Beyond Wernigerode, other recommended events include the “Advent in the Courtyards” in Quedlinburg, the Christmas market and “Christmas Forest” in Goslar, and the Advent market at Wöltingerode Monastery.
